ISB 2017 OpenSim Tutorial: Participants Preview OpenSim 4.0
Approximately 160 people attended the OpenSim interactive hands-on tutorial at the
26th Congress of the International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) in July in Brisbane, Australia. Participants were introduced to the basics of OpenSim and got a preview of the upcoming OpenSim 4.0 release, including the new Mac application. Thank you to all who participated and stay tuned for updates on the 4.0 official release. You can also
sign up to be a 4.0 beta tester.
TGCS 2017 Workshop: Participants Learn about OpenSim 4.0 and Face Off in a Simulated Jumping Competition
The OpenSim team from Stanford University led a three-hour workshop at the ISB Technical Group on Computer Simulation meeting this July in Australia. Over 30 participants learned how to use the Matlab scripting interface with OpenSim 4.0 through a hands-on tutorial. The workshop culminated in a competition to maximize the jump height of an OpenSim model. Thank you to all the participants and congratulations to the competition winners: Niamh Gill and Amy Lewis.

ISB 2017 OpenSim Research Symposium Highlights New Simulation Advances from Researchers Around the World
Over 150 people attended the
OpenSim research symposium in July during the ISB Congress in Brisbane, Australia. The symposium highlighted the latest research from leaders in the field of musculoskeletal modeling and simulations. Discussions included challenges and opportunities for using OpenSim in biomechanics research. Speakers included Brian Umberger from the University of Massachusetts, Colin Smith from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Chris Dembia from Stanford University, and Adrian Lai from Simon Fraser University. Thank you to our speakers and everyone who attended!
