Apply to Participate in Virtual Office Hours for Biomechanical Modeling or Machine Learning Research Questions

Office Hour Dates: January 30-February 3, 2023



We are pleased to announce we will be holding Virtual Office Hours January 30-February 3, 2023 to support researchers working with wearable sensors, video technology, and other modalities in rehabilitation research. We will have three tracks: 1) OpenCap<http://opencap.ai/> or other video-based analysis of movement 2) OpenSim<https://opensim.stanford.edu/> or other questions about biomechanical modeling, including via IMUs and 3) Machine learning with time series or other movement/rehab data. All phases of a research project are supported, such as formulating a research question, choosing and planning appropriate methods, and addressing issues with carrying out the study. Save the Date: Rocky Mountain Muscle Symposium Pre-Conference Summit



The Restore<http://restore.stanford.edu/> and Mobilize<http://mobilize.stanford.edu/> Centers at Stanford University and C-STAR <https://www.sralab.org/cstar> at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab are pleased to announce a research summit, “Models & Sensors to Measure Real-World Muscle Function & Movement.” The goal of the meeting is to showcase late-breaking research along with available tools, frameworks, and best practices for applying machine learning and wearable sensing to study real world movement. The scientific session will include invited speakers and short oral presentations selected from submitted abstracts. This full-day meeting will take place on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at the Nordic Centre in Canmore, AB just prior to the Rocky Mountain Muscle Symposium<https://rmms-conference.org/>. Modeling and Simulation Development Roadmap



Based on valuable discussions with our worldwide community of developers of tools and feedback from our wide community of users such as OpenSim, Moco, OpenCap, AddBiomechanics, OpenSim Creator, and other projects, we have released a Modeling and Simulation Roadmap<https://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:8443/display/OpenSim/Modeling+and+Simulation+Roadmap> to share our broad vision for development over the coming years. The roadmap details our current modeling and simulation resources, our plans for future work, and ways that you can stay up-to-date with our work and provide feedback.




PhD and Post-doctoral Positions in Neuromusculoskeletal Modeling - Rice University (Houston, TX, USA)



The Rice Computational Neuromechanics Lab directed by B.J. Fregly is seeking to hire a PhD student and a post-doctoral researcher with backgrounds in computer science, mechanical engineering, and/or biomedical engineering. Both candidates will contribute to the development of OpenSim and Matlab software to optimize personalized surgical and neurorehabilitation interventions and assist with an annual “Stroke Grand Challenge Competition” to be held at the American Society of Biomechanics annual conference.
