Webinar on Mechanism of Hamstring Injuries

Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 9:00 AM PST

We are pleased to announce our upcoming webinar with Reed Gurchiek from Clemson University entitled “Hamstrings Stretch More in Accelerative than Constant-Speed Running.” Hamstring injuries are common in field-based sports with high reinjury rates. Recent evidence suggests they often occur during accelerative running, but investigations of hamstring mechanics have primarily considered constant and high-speed running. Dr. Gurchiek will present findings from a recently published study that utilized OpenCap<http://opencap.ai> to address this knowledge gap, leveraging a unique and more realistic dataset compared to prior research. This event will be hosted jointly with the Restore<http://restore.stanford.edu> and Mobilize<http://mobilize.stanford.edu> Centers on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 9:00 AM Pacific Time. Open Positions in Digital Human Modeling - Stanford University

A team of faculty at Stanford University, including Professors Scott Delp, Garry Gold, Karen Liu, Akshay Chaudhari, and Ellen Kuhl is accepting applications for Postdoctoral Fellows in digital human modeling. The researchers in these positions will help develop new methods to simulate, generate, and understand human movement. Candidates should have a background in biomechanics, computer science, robotics, and/or machine learning.
