From pgrouchy at gmail.com Sat Sep 8 07:41:23 2018 From: pgrouchy at gmail.com (Paul Grouchy) Date: Sat, 8 Sep 2018 10:41:23 -0400 Subject: [Population Modeling] Introductory Email Message-ID: Hi all! Jacob Barhak suggested that I post some of my work here. During my graduate studies, I developed an algorithm based on Genetic Programming to evolve systems of dynamical equations for controlling one or more agents in real or simulated environments. The culmination of this work was our paper entitled On the Evolutionary Origin of Symbolic Communication ( https://www.nature.com/articles/srep34615) where populations of blind but mobile agents represented by these equations evolved a symbolic communication scheme to help find one another so that they could mate. A summary video of the work is here: https://youtu.be/tEbO91yNYk8 I am currently working in industry. However I am still very interested in this type of work, and am looking forward to being a part of this mailing list! All the best, Paul Grouchy, PhD -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... We used to publish it as papers, yet on the third paper the reviewer Thomas Woolly suggested making the map digital. Recently a few more examples of population modeling were contributed to this list and they were added to the map. The map now also contains links. Here is the updated map link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ljl6l7hyYbb7wmyoFcrJl38593ufqt65agwHT_EIFEo/edit#gid=524535306 If you contributed to this list, please check that the map represents your work properly - please send any changes to this list or to me so the map will be correct and up to date. Please feel free to forward this map further and I hope it will be of use. Jacob -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
