Hello SimVascular Community,

We have just released a new version: SimVascular-2017-06-18! Please see below for more information.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the SB3C meeting in Tucson this week. Please attend our workshop on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30pm, and visit our booth in the exhibit hall, where we will be available to answer questions and interface with users. We encourage you to download and install the new version prior to arriving at the workshop!

Here is a summary of the improvements we made have since the last release. As always we encourage your feedback on our user forums.

New Features:
===========================================

Installation on Linux
- We provide a deb package to install SimVascular, which is very similar to the way you install in Mac and Windows.
- A separate installer for svSolver is now provided. The user is required to install it for running simulations
- SimVascular and svSolver are installed at /usr/local/sv/

2D Segmentation
- There are two methods available for lofting preview. The default one is now NURBS-based, which provides a better lofted surface
- Useful info about the selected contour is shown in the status bar for reference.

3D Segmentation
- A new data type added for managing 3D segmentation
- A method using colliding fronts is now provided to create 3D segmentation using starting and ending seeds.

Modeling
- It is now possible to union 2D and 3D segmentation together when creating a PolyData model
- Only 2D segmentations are allowed when creating OpenCASCADE or Parasolid (internal / license holders only) Models
- For the union of 2D segmentations, the user can use different lofting parameters of individual groups, or use a uniform set of parameters.
- You can now export cap face areaa for models from Data Manager

Meshing
- Adaptive meshing is available, based on simulation results from a single time step or multiple time steps
- Meshing with MeshSim is added (for internal MeshSim license holders only)

Simulation
- You can now calculate flow rates and pressures at inlets and outlets during postprocessing, creating a single combined file or multiple files

Minor Changes and Bug fixes
==========================================

Version info
- SimVascular version is displayed in the main window title and also in the About Dialog
- Please mention this version information when you raise questions in the community.

SV Path Planning
- The tool icon is replaced with a distinct one
- The duplicated path has a different path ID from the original one
- fix crash while deleting points

Legacy data importing
- fixed issue while a user tried to import contour groups in the legacy format
- able to import both 2D/3D segmentation from the legacy formats

svSolver
- fixed issue to avoid the failure of producing bct files for Wormersley profile in some cases
- fixed issue that inflow direction is not correct for some cases

Documentation
==============================================
The documentation website www.simvascular.org has been updated for new features.

For Developers
=============================================

Source Code
- svSolver source code has been taken out of SimVascular, and has its own repository: github.com/SimVascular/svSolver

Compilation
- A top level cmakelists.txt is added to ease the compilation of SimVascular.
- Precompiled external packages are automatically downloaded during compilation.
- The whole compilation process takes ~10 mins

Distribution for Linux
- There are two options to create installers: deb package, and tar file

Thanks,

SimVascular Development Team
