 Hello All,

You all encountered the acronyms IMAG - it is actually part of the email
address of this group. For those who do not know what it is, I am writing a
few words in plain informal language.
IMAG stands for Interagency Modeling and Analysis Group. It is a group of
government officials from multiple government agencies in America that are
promoting modeling and simulation. Grace Peng is the chair. For further
information, please check the following web site:
http://www.imagwiki.nibib.nih.gov/
Part of their effort, is the Multi Scale Modeling (MSM) Consortium that
meets once a year at the NIH in the MSM/IMAG meeting. This consortium
mainly includes modelers awarded grants for modeling and simulation in
health related issues, yet you will find many other professionals
attracted to this professional gathering. In this NIH meeting working
groups assemble to discuss certain topics. One of the topics is population
modeling. And following the growing interest in population modeling in the
last meeting we decided to start this mailing list to get a better picture
of the field and promote activities.

So just to make things clear, this mailing list is informal and public,
and even international in scope. The affiliation to IMAG is that we are
observed and will report to IMAG about our activities. If we come up with
good activities we will be noticed. And we actually do have an IMAG
representative in the list that may choose to add a few words to this short
informal description.

I hope this puts things into perspective.

                    Jacob
