Hi, everyone. I am Yifei Ma, Ph.D. I am a new member here and want to
introduce myself. I was a member of NDSSL at Virginia Tech. My research
experience includes data management system, population and behavior
modeling and simulation, and analysis of large scale social networks. I am
interested in improving simulation systems with the emergent technologies
(such as big data and high performance computing technologies).
My previous work is about the modeling and simulation of public health
policy for epidemic outbreaks. My work [1] improves the social behavior
modeling flexibility and simulation efficiency. With the improvement, the
latency of evaluating policies in laboratory for real time epidemic control is
reduced. My work [2] evaluated the effectiveness of two strategies during
an epidemic outbreak, self-motivated prevention behaviors and community-led
interventions by simulating the strategies in US cities during an
influenza. I am more interested in the system design of this simulation
problem.
