Fregly from Rice University entitled “A Hands-on Guide to the NMSM Pipeline for Treatment Design.” Designing optimal orthopedic surgery, physical rehabilitation, and neurorehabilitation interventions using “digital twins” of individual patients is an important goal of neuromusculoskeletal modeling. Marissa Sinopoli and a team of Mobilize Center<http://mobilize.stanford.edu/> researchers at Stanford University developed a novel 3D medical imaging-based anatomical score for patellar instability. The team analyzed magnetic resonance images from 270 participants with and without patellar instability to derive 3D measures. The resulting 3D-Patellar Instability Anatomical Severity Score (3D-PASS) best correlated with patient-reported outcomes. This technique can use any 3D scan of the bony anatomy and has the potential to help identify patients who may or may not benefit from surgery or other interventions. Announcing FAIR Center for Foundational AI for Rehabilitation

We are pleased to announce the launch of the FAIR Center<http://faircenter.stanford.edu/> at Stanford University, which is creating Foundational Artificial Intelligence for Rehabilitation. The FAIR Center—one of six centers in the Medical Rehabilitation Research Resource (MR3) Network<https://www.nichd.nih.gov/research/supported/mrrin>—is funded by the National Institute of Child Health & Human Development (NICHD), the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), and the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). In this webinar, Dr. Lee and Dr. Clouthier will discuss how incorporating joint geometry into musculoskeletal models can reveal insights about the relationship between certain bone features and increased injury risk. Typical data-driven models are limited to a specific downstream task with fixed inputs and outputs. GaitDynamics is the first generative foundation model to quantify gait dynamics for different gait patterns. It is a flexible, scalable solution that is able to predict both motions and forces for human walking and running with partial or no input data. Model to Predict Gait Dynamics, RehabWeek Workshop, and more

GaitDynamics: A Foundation Model for Predicting Human Gait Dynamics Data driven-models are a promising solution to quantify gait dynamics with less cost and time compared with traditional lab-based experiments. Typical data-driven models are limited to a specific downstream task with fixed inputs and outputs. GaitDynamics is the first generative foundation model to quantify gait dynamics for different gait patterns. It is a flexible, scalable solution that is able to predict both motions and forces for human walking and running with partial or no input data. OpenSim+ Workshop Highlights, AddBiomechanics Updates, and more

Highlights from the OpenSim+ Advanced User Workshop Our recent, three-day in-person OpenSim+ workshop at Stanford University guided 42 researchers in using not just our OpenSim<https://simtk.org/projects/opensim> software tool, but also our other software, including OpenSim Moco<https://opensim-org.github.io/opensim-moco-site/>, OpenSense<https://simtk.org/projects/opensense>, AddBiomechanics<http://addbiomechanics.org>, and OpenCap<http://opencap.ai>. Workshop participants were paired with mentors from our team to advance the goals of their research projects. Projects included predicting outcomes of orthopedic surgeries, simulating musculoskeletal dynamics of the spine, and injury prevention and rehabilitation.
