We are also pleased to announce a new OpenSim Fellow and more OpenSim resources. *Inaugural Virtual Workshop* *April 25 to May 6, 2016* *Applications due March 25*This workshop is intended for OpenSim users who want assistance from the OpenSim team on specific research projects. It is expected that participants have already begun to use OpenSim for their project. The workshop will consist of working on your project while getting assistance from OpenSim experts remotely through video conferencing and a specialized forum. The event will span two weeks, including two virtual meetings on April 26th and May 3rd, along with daily forum support from a team of OpenSim experts. MOtoNMS processes experimental data from C3D files of different motion analysis devices and produces input data for OpenSim (.trc and .mot files). You can find their paper, along with the MATLAB code, test data, and a user guide, on their Simtk.org project page <https://simtk.org/home/motonms>. *New Model of the Shoulder Joint Complex Available for Download* Ajay Seth (Stanford University), Ricardo Matias (University of Lisbon), and colleagues have developed and validated a newly published model of the scapulothoracic joint. The publication <http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0141028> in PLOS One, "A biomechanical model of the scapulothoracic joint to accurately capture scapular kinematics during shoulder movements," describes the model. *Apply for the NCSRR/OpenSim Visiting Scholars Program**Summer 2016 at Stanford University* The National Center for Simulation in Rehabilitation Research (NCSRR) is now accepting applications for the 2016 Visiting Scholars Program. The program is a unique experience that fosters expertise and collaborations in biomechanical simulations for rehabilitation research. Up to four individuals will be chosen to visit the NCSRR at Stanford University for a 5-week period during the summer of 2016, from mid-June to mid-July. Each visiting scholar will be reimbursed for their travel and living expenses up to $8,000. During their visits, awardees will receive training and mentoring to help them reach their research goals. They will have the opportunity to participate in formal meetings, discussions with OpenSim experts, and brainstorming sessions with their fellow visiting scholars to advance their research and the OpenSim project. The Visiting Scholars Program is intended for faculty members and postdoctoral fellows with exceptional skills in biomechanics, simulation, and computer science, who will advance the field of movement science through the development of new software, biomechanical models, and outstanding research. NIH supports OpenSim for five more years

Dear OpenSim Community Members, We are excited to announce that the OpenSim project has secured an additional five years of funding through the renewal of our NIH-funded National Center for Simulation in Rehabilitation Research <http://opensim.stanford.edu/> (NCSRR). We are grateful to everyone who provided a letter of support for our renewal application, and we thank all members of the community for contributing to the growth and vibrancy of the project by participating in our forum, attending workshops, teaching with OpenSim, and publishing excellent research. In the coming years, the NCSRR will continue to support and expand the OpenSim project by enhancing the OpenSim software platform and continuing our Visiting Scholars <http://web.stanford.edu/group/opensim/support/scholars.html>, Pilot Project <http://web.stanford.edu/group/opensim/support/pilot.html>, OpenSim Fellows <http://web.stanford.edu/group/opensim/support/fellows.html>, workshop <http://simtk-confluence.stanford.edu:8080/display/OpenSim/Workshops>, and online training <http://web.stanford.edu/group/opensim/support/index.html> programs. Some specific plans for the next year include the following: - We'll announce the call for applications to our *Summer 2016 Visiting Scholars Program* by the end of the year. - We'll start accepting *Pilot Project Program* applications this spring. - We continue to accept applicants to the OpenSim Fellows program and will start planning for the first *Fellows Symposium*. - We'll explore new formats for our training and support, including a *virtual workshop *and *developer's hackathon*. - We will release *OpenSim 4.0* with a host of enhancements, such as a new visualizer and streamlined data import.
